Binutils is licensed under 4 GNU licenses:

After installing and loading the module, the various license files can be found in $EBROOTBINUTILS/share/licenses/binutils.

User-installable modules (and EasyConfigs)

Install with the EasyBuild-user module:

eb <easyconfig> -r

To access module help after installation and get reminded for which stacks and partitions the module is installed, use module spider binutils/<version>.

Technical documentation

This binutils module is needed for Extrae. It is not clear to what extent it can cause issues with the compilers on the system that come with a different version of binutils.
